Hi! I'm Yumi! ♥ I'm 20 years old. Pisces.
This site is more of a personal blog where I introduce myself and showcase some of my artworks that I have done during my animation times in Singapore Polytechnic. I've only completed 1/3 of my animation course as I want to pursue something else in the IT industry but that does not stop my love for animation also.
By using this site, I hope I can get across to my audience who might wants to acheive something in a different path but still have passion for animation to never give up. I know doing animation is always known as an unstable job to other people because the job scope is relatively small thus high competition among others who are also in this industry. However, we people can love many things and also acheive many things in life. We are not restricted by anything but yourself. If you love it, do it!
Introducing myself, I actually took Art back in my Secondary School days. However that's only available to us for 2 years. So after the first 2 years, I have actually not touch anything related to Art. Atmost, I doodled a bit during class or when i feel stress. Some people will praise me by saying that my drawing is nice. I think it kind of makes me feel a little bit proud.
Atfer graduating from Secondary School, I entered ITE EAST as i have not done well in my O'Levels. My dad wanted me to learn business and programming so he enrolled me into E-Business Programming. Honestly speaking, I don't like it in the first place. It's something that I have no experience in and I think i can't succeed in graduating. Thus, i forced myself to listen in class no matter what and i didn't really hang out much and talk much with my classmates because i wanted to get good grades and enter Singapore Polytechnic. It was my ultimate goal because I don't want to let my parents down and embarrased them for being an ITE graduate. After spending some time in this course, I've learnt to love this course and I find it interesting and fun to create application by coding. I rememebered we have to use X-Code which is downloaded from the apple store to do our coding for application. It's really fun! I also started to mix around more with my classmates as time progresses. We helped each other and the environment is good.
Sadly the time to graduate makes me feel empty as my closest friends are going onto different path. However, I've managed to enter Singapore Polytechnic after 2 years in ITE EAST! My goal has been accomplished!
Wanting to acheive my dreams for animation, I choose Digital Animation. When i enterd into this course, reality kind of strikes me. It was harder than i thought. Traditional animation and drawing class was painful for me. I think it's because i have never really draw much as compared to my other classmates. They are really obsessed with drawing and they always carry a small sketch book around with them. They know so much about the animtion industry and those famous people who created animation. I realised i was different. I knew nothing much. I had very little knowledge of the animation industry. I start to procrastinate which is not a good thing. However, I have learnt a lot in the process and I've made wonderful friends in the class who are there for me and we go through our first year hand-in-hand.
But I must say, in the middle of my animation life, I actually tried to give up and wanting to transfer out of this course to something related to what I have learnt in ITE.
The struggle is real when it comes to decision-making. I ended up with the decision to transfer out. But, I still have feelings for Animation. Guess I can make it like my side-job.
Thus creating this side makes me feel like I have never given up on Animation yet. Which is true.
